I would like to thank Mr Jari for giving me the freedom back that I had lost due to the problems with my left knee. He gave me a complete new knee in in February 2010, I had the operation on the Friday morning and I was walking 4 hours after the operation, on the Saturday I walked up and down the corridor and walked up and down 15 stairs , Mr Jari came to see Saturday at 1pm and was so pleased with my progress that he said I could go home Saturday or Sunday but I thought it would be better to wait until Sunday which I did. I was given numerous pain killers which I did not need to take because I had no pain at all, I was supposed to get 6 physiotherapy session but I recovered so fast that I only had 3 session. Before I had the operation I asked Mr jari when I would be able to play golf again he told me it would be 6 weeks I was playing golf 19 days after the operation which is all down to the expertise of Mr Jari. I would like to thank Mr Jari for giving me my life back. I do need my right knee done which he is going to do in November and I am not worried about it I now know that I am in the best hands you could ask for. Many thanks George Richardson

Having returned recently from my holiday I wanted to thank you for your skills and consideration. Thanks to the injection you administered during my appointment on 7 June I was able to enjoy walking again. The relief from the ?Baker?s Cyst? seemed miraculous, in fact the only pain I still experience in my knee is arthritic.I can only say you made an immeasurable difference to the enjoyment of my holiday.

Dear Dr Jari,
You performed an ACL replacement on my right knee in December 2006. You may recall that I was very committed to my physio and rehab generally and made a speedy recovery. The reason for writing is that I wanted to let you know that I completed the London Marathon in April of this year in 3 hours 30 minutes and more recently, the Manchester 10k in 39 minutes 7 seconds. I am proud of both achievements. I have not played football since the operation (which is how I snapped my cruciate in the first place) but this has been a personal decision to try to avoid a recurrence and to ensure that I able to play golf, tennis, squash and keep fit through running and the gym. I wanted to drop you a line to say thank you very much. I hope you and your family are well.
Thanks again.

I have had the pleasure of working with Mr Jari for the last 6 years, both in the NHS, private practice and elite sport.
Mr Jari has a unique approach to orthopaedic medicine and it is refreshing to work with a consultant who is pro-active in both the pre-operative and post-operative rehabilitation of his patients / athletes.
We developed the rehabilitation programme together for the contra-lateral ACL procedures that Mr Jari does routinely now and I have always found him approachable and dynamic.
I have treated a significant number of patients/athletes who have had their lower limb surgery performed by Mr Jari. I find that patients/athletes achieve a great outcome and are able to return to their sport or day to day work with minimal problems and in a much quicker time frame than what they expected.

Dear Mr Jari,
I just wanted to drop you a line to say a huge thank you for your stunning expertise!
You operated on me just over 12 months ago. I had an ACL Reconstruction. I recovered faster than anybody I have ever heard about on any ACL Internet forum and I am now back to playing semi-pro football and doing everything I used to be able to do. It is all thanks to you.
You are an amazing professional with super human skill and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the care and attention to detail you put into my knee.
Thank you Mr Jari.

Over the last 5months I have had the opportunity to experience both sides of having anteriorcruciate ligament surgery, both as a patient and a therapist.Having ruptured my right ACL playingfootball some months ago there was no doubt as to whom I wanted to carry out myreconstructive surgery. In thephysio world Mr Jari is highly regarded quite simply as one of the bestsurgeons around. His surgery andaccelerated rehab programmes are second to none.
As a physio Ihave guided many patients through their own ACL rehab, many with theaspirations of returning to full sporting activity, just like myself.Due to Mr Jaris excellent care andguidance I had regained full movement in my knee after 5 weeks, and full musclestrength after 2 months.I wasable to start running again after 2 months and football training after just 4 months.
From the verybeginning I have had complete trust and confidence in Mr Jaris approach to ACLsurgery, his professional and direct manner instills even more confidence, Icannot thank him and his team enough for their care and attention before, during and after my surgery. He isan outstanding surgeon with my highest recommendation.

It has been a pleasure and an honour to develop a productive and close working relationship over the past 5 years. Sanjiv is an ambitious, cutting edge surgeon with a modern approach to orthopaedic surgery. He has an attentive, thorough and direct patient manner. Sanjiv makes himself available when others cant and most importantly, his surgery holds up every time under intense sporting rehabilitation. If required to seek his opinion, I wouldnt hesitate.

Being a professional basketball player and athlete, injures are to be expected, but given that this is my profession its very important to limit and recover as quickly as possible from them. Following my 3rd serious knee injury a few years ago i was told by several consultants that i should pursue another career and look at other opportunities that would not put strain and stress on my knees. This news came as a great shock and disappointment to me. I looked to find 2nd and even 3rd opinions, and this is when i had the good fortune to contact Mr Jari. During our consultations and examinations he was upfront and honest and gave me several options that I could chose from. I was very impressed with his demeanour and professionalism, and I felt exceptionally confident in him as a surgeon. Following the work and follow up work that Mr. Jari has performed on my knees i have totally recovered from my previous knee injuries and have spent the last 2 years of my career playing at my highest level in the Spanish professional basketball league. I can whole heartedly say that had I not have met Mr. Jari i would not be playing professional basketball right now. He still continues to keep in contact and always makes himself available to me for any help or questions that I may have. I have already recommended his services to other athletes, who have also had great results working with him and i wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to any other person looking to recover from a lower limb injury or problem.

I was recommended Mr Jari by a family member, who had dealings with him in the past. Within a couple of days of contacting Mr Jaris' secretary, I had an appointment. I found Mr Jari to be approachable, friendly and very professional. I had consultations, MRI scan, arthroscopy and physio within 6 weeks of my first appointment. My knee problem has now been resolved and I am very happy with the outcome. I would highly recommend anyone seeking information on knee problems, to contact Mr Jari. I would also like to add, that Mr Jaris' secretary was very helpful and prompt in arranging appointments to suit my needs. For this I thank her. I can now fly back to Cuba with the knowledge, that should I need any future help, I know I can feel confident in contacting the kneedoc.

In November 2007, because of osteoarthritis, Mr Jari replaced my left knee. I was up and about the next day with the Physio and all the appalling pain had completely gone. My recovery was very quick and from the first week I really didn't need crutches. Within 6 weeks I was back to driving, walking my dog and I returned to work. All of this pain free. My right knee is now deteroriating and I only hope that Mr Jari is available when the time comes for replacement because I would not even consider going to anyone else.

Just to say, a big thanks to Mr Jari for all your help in getting round in one piece (ran The New York Marathon). I made it in 4hrs 46mins which was OK considering my problems! Merry xmas and happy new year to you all.

I was referred to Mr Jari in 2005 for an ACL reconstruction operation. From initial consultation through to the procedure and after care Mr Jari and his team were extremely communicative and professional. I received excellent pre- and post-operation support including physiotherapy and after treatment. I am glad to say that after having an extremely weak knee that gave me constant problems, I am now fully recovered and able to exercise on a regular basis and back to playing football on a weekly basis also. I would recommend Mr Jari and his team to anybody looking to recover from this injury and play or exercise regularly to a decent level again.

After following disastrous advice from another surgeon to do nothing, I was fortunate to be referred to Mr Jari nearly 75 days after my breaking my fifth metatarsal while jogging. At the time, given the nature of the non-joined break and pain, I was still unable to walk normally and had dramatically restricted my work, travel and personal activities. After examination Mr Jari explained very clearly how surgery was indicated if I were to return to the level of activity I have been used to. I had the "reconstructive" surgery on 7 October and after 60 days weight free, he released me to walk in early December and on 30 March, he released me all together. Given the appearance of the fracture in October, I was astounded that the surgery had the result of allowing me meet all of my recovery objectives; to walk again; to get to Edinburgh for Hogmanay (ninety days from surgery!); and return to normal work and exercise. Throughout my treatment I found Mr Jari to be open and direct. While he considers factors as age, weight and so forth, Mr Jari's approach to treatment also considers the recovery objectives of the patient. He is very approachable and takes the time to listen and answer questions so you understand what you are facing. His demeanour led me to have a high level of confidence in him and the surgical procedure, a confidence that was well deserved. Other than the fact that I would rather not have broken my foot in the first place; meeting, interacting with and being treated by Mr Jari has been a personally rewarding experience. He has my respect and strongest recommendation.

We had a range of knee problems through the season and I worked closely with Mr Jari and a number of players. He always established a good relationship with each player and was enthusiastic and positive about the rehab and the overall outcome of surgery. I found him to be very approachable and felt that his support was always there if required. All procedures were explained to the players and they were able to ask questions and not feel confused by the technical terms. The players and I were always confident every step of the way in his care. A truly great service, thank you for all you did.

It has been a pleasure working with the Manchester Sports Medicine Clinic, who nurture an environment within which knowledge is shared and an easy rapport between surgeon and physio is encouraged. This teamwork not only makes clinical work all the more stimulating and enjoyable, but facilitates an optimal recovery for the patient.
As a physiotherapist used to dealing with post-operative rehab of conventional anterior-cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery, I was initially taken-aback by the protocol of accelerated return to activity proposed by Mr Jari's ACL reconstructions. I wanted to know more, and I was pleasantly surprised by how approachable Mr Jari is. We discussed the physiological rationale and he arranged for me to watch the procedure in theatre. I know being able to witness the strength and stability of the graft, and watch the precision and skill with which this operation was performed, gave me the confidence to implement this ambitious rehab regime. I have been amazed with the results to date. The last patient I referred to Mr Jari went skiing just 8 weeks post-operatively, sans knee brace of any sort, quite successfully! I feel this case warrants a post-script along the lines of 'we do not recommend this under normal circumstances' as this person was an exceptionally compliant individual who was well motivated to succeed. Nonetheless, the standards of ACL reconstruction have been raised.

After I broke my arm the hospital put me in a cast - I was devastated - as I knew I would not be able to play for at least 6 weeks, meaning I would miss out on some of the season's most important matches. Luckily I was the good hands of the Manchester Sports Medicine Clinic where my surgeon [Mr Sanjiv Jari] re-exrayed me and altered my treatment to a playing cast to make sure I was back training within a couple of days meaning I was back playing on the field within just 2 weeks!
Gillian Rawlinson BSc(hons) MSc MCSP SRP.
England Netball U21 squad physiotherapist
As the physiotherapist for the England u21 netball squad, I have come across a variety of injuries, with ACL tears being one of the most common. Over the past 2 years there have been six ACL tears among England's elite netball players. These have been managed with a variety of surgical approaches with varying degrees of success, in terms of length of time to return to sport and overall outcome.
The most successful outcome was achieved by a player who suffered an ACL tear whilst playing. She was seen by Mr Sanjiv Jari (MSMC), who confirmed the diagnosis at her first consultation. Following physiotherapy pre-habilitation to regain good knee range of movement and function, she underwent an ipsilateral patellar tendon ACL reconstruction by Mr Jari. Immediately after surgery (starting on the day of her operation), she commenced Mr Jari's aggressive accelerated rehabilitation protocol under my supervision.
Her outcome was excellent. She started ball drills and shooting practice at 4 weeks post surgery. She returned to training at eight weeks and returned to full, competitive matchplay at four months post-op. She continues one year later to have an excellent outcome with no pain or instability and a great future with England netball.
